Always wanted to know how to use a sewing machine? Got some curtains to take up? Want to make some clothes? This is the workshop for you!

In a small friendly group of other people eager to learn, you’ll be taken through the basics of setting up and using a sewing machine for simple sewing tasks. By the end of the workshop you'll be able to:

  • Thread a sewing machine

  • Fill the bobbin

  • Understand simple do's and don'ts when starting a project

  • Change stitch settings

  • Sew some basic shapes

  • Create a drawstring bag using your new skills!

The workshop will be led by Sarah, who’s a local passionate about sewing in her spare time. She also learnt to sew at classes, and will be on hand to answer any other questions you might have to get your own sewing projects and ideas off the ground.

By the end of the workshop you should feel confident enough to borrow a sewing machine and you’ll also go home with a drawstring bag made in the class as living proof of your new skill!

We'll provide everything you need for the session, but if you have a sewing machine that you want to bring along and learn on, please do!
