We're hiring a Community Activator!

Are you…

  • Passionate about building communities?

  • Experienced in making relationships and creating opportunities for all sorts of people and organisations?

  • Capable of organising and hosting creative events together with local people?

  • Keen to take on a challenging, hands-on role in a small dynamic team?

Library of Things is looking for an energetic Community Activator to lead outreach and develop the social and learning offer at its flagship site in Vale Street, West Norwood.

This is a leadership role in a new community business reinventing society’s relationship with ‘stuff’. You’ll be working in a fun-loving, supportive culture with the director and volunteer teams.

Time input: 4 days per week (0.8 FTE)
Duration: 2 year contract, with a 3-month trial period
Flexibility: Some flexibility of working hours (might include some weekend or evenings) and locations possible. Job share possible.
Remuneration: £25,000 pro rata
Personal development: 10 days of 1-to-1 training with Community Director + further training opportunities at events and conferences
Eligibility: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK

Librarians

Are you a people person? Enjoy connecting neighbours and telling stories? Happy to plan events and make things happen?

Our team of librarians work together to

  • make sure our diverse mix of members have a wonderful experience as soon as they step inside the Library of Things
  • show borrowers how to use the Things 
  • bring in new members from the local area – by door knocking, attending local events, using a splash of creativity...
  • be the in-house DJ
  • roll up sleeves and pitch in wherever the small team needs a hand! 

Tool fixers

Are you a dab hand at DIY? Happy to rewire a plug? Like fixing things and building systems that work? 

Our team of tool fixers will work together to

  • oversee and update our item catalogue system
  • ensure items are safe, clean and functional before being borrowed (including PAT testing – training provided)
  • upgrade and maintain our shipping container space
  • roll up sleeves and pitch in wherever the small team needs a hand!
